Each player's starting capital and certificate limit vary by player count:
| Players | Starting capital | Certificate limit |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 420R | 21 |
| 3 | 380R | 17 |
A corporation launches (floats) when 50% of its shares have been sold. The bank holds 6,500R in total.
Open market rules (Bank pool)
Shares sold by players do not return directly to the bank but go to the open market pool. Key rules:
- Shares in the market pay dividends to the corporation.
- At most 50% of a corporation's shares may be in the market at any time.
- Shares may not be sold during the first Stock Round.
Each game round consists of two main parts:
Stock Round (SR): Players, in turn order, may buy or sell corporation shares. A corporation launches when its majority shareholder completes 50% of its shares. The director founds the corporation by choosing an initial price from the market.
Operating Rounds (OR): Each corporation, in order of stock market value, carries out its operations: lays tiles · places company offices · buys ships · runs routes · pays dividends or withholds income. The share price rises if dividends are paid and falls if they are not.
The 1713 Menorca stock market works as a 2D board with rows and columns. Share price movement follows these rules:
If all shares are sold in a SR, moves up 1 space
Withholds income or has no revenue
Dividends are paid in an OR
Shares are sold, or the president is forced to buy a ship or cart to operate
Yellow zone: if a share price is in the yellow zone, the certificate limit does not apply to that player.
Red zone: if a share price is in the red zone, the 60% shareholding limit does not apply.
The game ends when one of two conditions occurs:
Bank depleted: When the bank (6,500R) runs out, the current round ends and final scoring takes place.
Conquest of 1756: When the French Conquest event triggers, the current Operations Round ends immediately.
The winner is the player with the highest net worth: personal cash + market value of all shares held.
